Chapter 138: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts

back to News

In the Year Two Thousand and Ten

AN ACT DESIGNATING A PLAYGROUND AT THE MARINE PARK IN SOUTH BOSTON AS THE MICHAEL JOYCE MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain playground in the South Boston section of the city of Boston as the Michael Joyce memorial Playground, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

The playground located at the southernmost part of Marine park on William J. Day boulevard in the South Boston section of the city of Boston, under the care and control of the department of conservation and recreation, shall be designated and known as the Michael Joyce Memorial Playground, in memory of Michael Joyce, who provided more than 20 years of distinguished public service to the commonwealth. The Department of Conservation and Recreation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing this designation in compliance with the standards of department.
